The 10 Most Valuable Classic Motorcycles Ever Sold at Auction

Classic motorcycles are more than just machines. They are works of art, pieces of history, and in some cases, multi-million euro investments. Here are the 10 most valuable classic motorcycles ever sold at auction.

1. 1951 Vincent Black Lightning – €1.3 million

Only 33 Vincent Black Lightnings were ever built. This motorcycle set a land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 1952, reaching 150 mph. In 2018, a surviving example sold for €1.3 million – the most expensive motorcycle ever auctioned.

2. 1915 Cyclone Board Track Racer – €850,000

Before World War I, Cyclone was known as the "fastest motorcycle in America." Only a handful survive today. In 2015, one example sold for €850,000.

3. 1938 Brough Superior SS100 "George Brough" – €750,000

Brough Superior was often called the "Rolls-Royce of motorcycles." This particular SS100 was owned and ridden by George Brough himself. It sold at auction in 2014 for €750,000.

4. 1954 MV Agusta 500 4C – €700,000

5. 1929 Brough Superior SS100 "Alpine Grand Sport" – €650,000

One of the most original Brough Superiors in existence. It was delivered new to a British collector in 1929 and remained in the same family for over 80 years.

6. 1956 Vincent HRD Black Prince – €600,000

The Black Prince was Vincent's last attempt to compete with British luxury car manufacturers. Only 18 were ever built, making it one of the rarest production motorcycles in the world.

7. 1939 BMW RS255 Kompressor – €550,000

Before World War II, BMW built supercharged racing motorcycles that dominated European competition. This RS255 is one of only a handful that survived the war.

9. 1972 Ducati 750 Imola Desmo – €500,000
